parallel(offset) lines using python

Hi , 
 I have set of points (x1,y1),(x2,y2),(x3,y3)......(xn,yn). I want to find a sets of points in given offset distance. Please help me how to code it in python. 

I tried pyclipper. But, I could not able to get what i require.

I'm not sure what "sets of points in given offset distance" means? If this is a homework, please post the entire assignment. If not - please elaborate further what the task and setup is.
In any case - you need to provide some code you have so far and identify specific problems you face with it.
