[split] My Posts are locked - wavic - Sep-27-2016 My English isn't good so I've made some edition in my last post here. A few times. The last one I wanted to do was to change a word which was wrong by meaning. The forum refused to do that. More then 10 minutes later the situation didn't change. But I don't mind. It's my fault. The forum refused to do that.Yeah sorry. That is a preventative action to stop students from posting a question and receiving an answer, then editing their posts to remove the question and all information. Which happens quite a bit actually. RE: Do we really need a "Jobs" board? - Kebap - Sep-27-2016 Can that be limited to users below xx posts maybe? RE: [split] My Posts are locked - metulburr - Sep-27-2016 It is currently. Once a user gets 1000 posts they get automatically moved into a privileged user group, which allows editing of posts, changing their own user titles, etc. RE: [split] My Posts are locked - metulburr - Sep-27-2016 Ok so i modified the user groups to the following http://python-forum.io/misc.php?action=help&hid=31 RE: [split] My Posts are locked - Ofnuts - Sep-27-2016 (Sep-27-2016, 03:24 PM)metulburr Wrote: Ok so i modified the user groups to the following Privileged User: allowed signatures, can edit posts freely, cannot delete posts If you can edit a post to nothing, isn't it more or less the same as deleting it? It is not uncommon to see a user having an MDD crisis attempt to erase everything. It s/he is a big contributor the forum may suffer a bit. If s/he is a mod or admin it may be even worse :) IMHO only the admins should be able to alter posts after a few days (and they should be tested for mental health :)) RE: [split] My Posts are locked - metulburr - Sep-27-2016 (Sep-27-2016, 08:52 PM)Ofnuts Wrote: If you can edit a post to nothing, isn't it more or less the same as deleting it?thats a good point lol RE: [split] My Posts are locked - metulburr - Sep-27-2016 Ok so now its 50+ posts have 24 hours to make edits. whereas <50 posts have 10 minutes. And no one cannot delete posts except for mods and admins. If a mod or admin went crazy and started deleting posts, then that person would no longer be an admin/mod. If it was an accident, there is an undo option that admins can resinstate any post/thread deleted. RE: [split] My Posts are locked - Kebap - Sep-28-2016 Thanks, that's more sane than the 1000 posts limit which hardly anyone will ever reach RE: [split] My Posts are locked - metulburr - Oct-05-2016 Since a new feature to log post edits...users with 5+ posts are allowed to edit their posts. http://python-forum.io/misc.php?action=help&hid=32 |
