About updates and upgrades - sylas - Oct-03-2018

Hi all ! I should like very much someone explains to me updates and upgrades.I see 2 cases:
1st deletes the whole old and then installs the new.
2d handles differences of old to new (probably with reads and writes). Thanks in advance.

Updates and upgrades of what?

Operating Systems. Or even some Application.

I don't see any difference. Whatever you call it, it will check for new version of a packet and will install it. It could be some library or a whole program or even OS. It will do the same.

For instance I have problem with "bluetooth", entering my photos inside the PC. On Linux. I should like to do that with the terminal, but where to find the name for that application(understood by the terminal) ?

Doesn't work doesn't help at all? Do you have a hardware switch and is it turned on? Does the laptop pair with the device? Is it start to transfer the files? Can you browse the device's folders?

With windows no problem, I succeed to enter my photos, but with the bad(as you say) Os in Linux, impossible. Since I will install soon 18.04, I should like to know if you, with your 18.04, succeed to enter photos. It will be enough for me. Thanks

I don't use Ubuntu but Arch and I have no problem to pair with a Bluetooth device. I do not use a smartphone. I have an audio system and headphones and they are paired with my laptop and all works. I didn't have any problem with my friends' phones too. In Ubuntu it could be different compared to Arch. There enough info on the web about it. First, you have to be sure that you have all the packages installed and the service is running. Try this guide for example: https://www.maketecheasier.com/setup-bluetooth-in-linux/
